We all know the feeling we get when the rug that we absolutely adore gets stained from unexpected accidents, kids, or pets. So, we’ve created a “How to remove stains from an area rug guide” to help our customers maintain their beautiful rugs. Here we list the steps you need to take to remove spills (oil, wine, and juice) pet stains/hair, dirt, lint, and debris.
Spills (Oil, Wine, and Juice) (Spot Cleaning)
Jute
1. Clean as soon as possible
2. Use warm water and dish washing detergent to apply to stain
3. Blot dry using a washcloth or towel
4. If this does not work and it appears to require a deeper cleaning, we recommend using professional cleaning services.
Ultra Durable/Ultra Wool Rugs
1. Our Ultra Durable and Ultra Wool rugs can be cleaned by simply hosing them down.
2. The rug must remain flat to dry
3. Flip rugs to both sides to allow it to fully dry on both sides.
*Fun Fact some customers have purchased Ultra Durable rugs in larger sizes, washed them with a water hose on their pickup truck and left them out to dry. That shows how easy it is to clean/maintain our Ultra Durable rugs.
Cotton Braided Rugs
We recommend using a professional cleaning service for all of our cotton braided rugs. However, some customers have washed their cotton braided rugs in the washing machine (not recommended).
Here is a review from a customer in Murrieta, CA who washed their rug in the washing machine.

Hooked and Penny Rugs
Shake any loose debris off and spot clean. Professional cleaning is recommended.
Pet Stains/Hair1. Please follow the stain removal tips used on spills for pets as well.
2. For pet hair removal you can use a vacuum without the beater brush to pull the hair up from the rug.
3. For pet odor, use a pet odor removal spray.

Dirt/Lint/Debris1. Remove loose dirt and debris with a vacuum using the hard brush attachment only (Please do not use a beater brush).

We hope this “How to guide” will help you with maintaining the care of your new Homespice Area Rug.
